Teach You To Be True

You think you’re safe behind your secrets and lie,

But manipulation is a temporary disguise.

You tell a story and pass it as truth,

And then lie again when someone asks you for proof.

You rely on your lies to keep contention at bay.

If no one brings up the truth, then everything is okay.

Peace built on lies is not peace at all.

It’s a house built on sand, one storm and it’ll fall.

You can try to fake your righteousness, you can try to fake redemption,

But the guilt that weighs you down is the beginning of conviction.

You can pretend to be good, you can pretend to be wise,

While you continue to serve the devil, the father of all lies.

Your lies can bring you wealth, your lies can bring you praise,

But when the truth comes out, you can fall in a single day.

The truth can bring you hate, the truth can make you poor,

But the truth is the key to open Heaven’s door.

You want a life that’s easy, so you ignore the evil in sight.

You want to live in peace, so you lie to avoid the fight.

You want the love of people, so you pretend to do what’s right,

But even the devil disguises himself as an angel of light.

You can’t hide forever, there is no limit to God’s sight.

“Whatever you’ve said in the dark shall be heard in the light.”

The day is coming when evil is put to a stop.

“What you’ve whispered in private will be proclaimed on the housetops.”

You can’t rely on the world, you can’t even rely on you,

But when you rely on God, He’ll teach you to be true.
