Stuck With Me Like Glue

When you came into my life, I was already walking among the dead.

If I even stepped foot in a church, my whole body was filled with dread.

I lived my life in fear, looking for the fight around every corner.

The light inside had all but died while I learned to live life as a loner.

I was a walking shadow, a shell of the old me,

But when you looked into my eyes, you saw who I was meant to be.

You encouraged the warrior I learned to keep locked away.

You brought back my smile and taught me to live day-by-day.

You became my “Good morning” and my sweet goodnight kiss.

You made our time in lock down feel like total bliss.

You saw me for who I was, not who I was pretending to be.

You made me feel safe so I could finally be free.

You’ve seen me at my worst, but you’ve never ran away.

You’ve made me believe that, no matter what, you’re actually going to stay.

You’ve held me through the pain that others have left behind.

And you remind me every day that I’m always worth your time.

You hold my heart with care and love me where I’m flawed,

And you show me every day what it is to be a man of God.

You are perfect for me, I know this to be true.

Everything I’ve ever wanted is everything you do.

I wanted a fairytale love, the kind you see in movies.

But I was told, “That doesn’t exist, those are all just stories.”

But then one night in a cold, snowy pavilion

You made that love a reality, you became my one-in-a-million.

God made you for me and me for you,

So whether you like it or not, you’re stuck with me like glue.
