You dye your hair and change your style.
You hit the gym and run that extra mile.
You use Botox and makeup just to change your face.
You use lotion to tan, regardless if it’s safe.
You have silicone implanted just to get a bigger butt.
You’ll even jump through hoops just to get a tummy tuck.
You show up to a job where no one cares about your soul.
All the while, you never get closer to reaching your own goals.
You go and play the lottery, hoping for a stroke of luck.
And then go sell off your body just to make an extra buck.
You work day and night to make the money you think you need.
But you never take the time to pick up your Bible and actually read.
You work yourself into a grave
To buy the things you think you crave.
You get the upgrades and fancy toys,
But none of it ever truly fills the void.
You go to school and train to be the best.
You perform and compete to put your abilities to the test.
You rack up trophies and frame your awards.
You put everything on display that shows you’re a star.
You live your life in fear; you run from being poor.
But no matter how much you have, you always seem to need more.
You were built in God’s image, an image to show love.
Only God can give you purpose, like a hand does for a glove.
God doesn’t care what you look like, the world does.
God doesn’t care how much money you have, the world does.
God doesn’t care what your credentials are, the world does.
God doesn’t care how nice your stuff is, the world does.
You’re spending your time, effort, and energy just for you to survive.
But if you chased God the way you chase the world, He’d show you what it means to thrive.
