What is a Christian?

What is a Christian, a real Christian? Because I’ve heard “We’re all Christians” or “All religions fall under Christianity” but neither one of these statements are true. We’re not all Christians. We all have the option to be Christians. We’re not all children of God. We’re all His creation. And, again, we all have the option to be children of God. But to be one of His children, to be accepted into that Spirit of Adoption, you have to do as He says and do as He does. There is no “Do as I say, not as I do” as a Christian. There is no shut up and let those around you continue to walk in sin. It doesn’t mean you just let everyone be whoever they wanna be. Yes, Jesus said to love. “Love” does not mean “don’t correct.” “Love” does not mean “don’t be angry.” “Love” means doing the hard thing. “Love” means making that correction regardless of the emotional consequences. To fear God means you’re willing to do whatever He asks of you, whether you like it or not, whether you agree with Him or not, whether you live or die. Being a Christian means you’re willing to die for His name’s sake. Being His child means you believe in His goodness, no matter what.

If you look for God, you’ll see God.

He breaks you down so He can build you the way He sees fit. It’s the beaten down and broken of the world that He chooses as His vessels. The beaten down and broken know what darkness looks and feels like. Which means, when they see and feel real light, His light… They run to it, and they abide in it. They put themselves on the front lines in hopes of giving life back to someone else in darkness.

Let Him in, and He’ll teach you. He’ll show you which side you’re standing on. He’ll even tell you how He broke you down…and what He’s willing to give you if you choose Him.

Proverbs 1:7

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Proverbs 14:5

“A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.”

Proverbs 14:16

“A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.”

Proverbs 14:25

“A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.”

Proverbs 15:10

“Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.”

Proverbs 16:4

“The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.”

Proverbs 27:5-6

“Open rebuke is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.”

Proverbs 28:4

“They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.”

John 15:12-14

“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.”

Romans 2:1-11

“Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. But we are sure that the judgement of God is according to the truth against them which commit such things. And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgement of God? Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgement of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God.”
