Freedom in The Blood

Since it’s New Year’s Eve, I want to share my story. Maybe it can help someone start the new year free of their chains.

I’ve been the kid who always told the truth, who became a liar. I’ve been the molly mormon who became the harlot. I’ve been the married wife who became the adulteress. I’ve sought love and acceptance while dishing out hate and rejection. I’ve sought freedom at the bottom of a bottle. Eventually, I had built this mountain against myself. I was angry all the time while searching for joy. I pushed everyone who really cared about me away while letting the demons dig in deeper.

Then I found myself alone, on my knees, tears rolling down my face, body shaking, barely getting out the whisper of words, “God, help me… please…”

And God spoke to me. He told me to stop doubting the wonderful person He has shaped me to be. He told me He’d never leave me. He told me He knows who I’ve been, what I’ve done, and that He chose me anyway. He said, “Daughter, rejoice. The battle is won. Leave the rest of your worries to me.” Since then, He’s been working on me, working with me.

If you feel the weight of those chains; if you feel unworthy of love; if you feel too weak to continue; if you feel like no one understands you, God is calling you. He’s just waiting for you to pick up the phone.

Psalm 46

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth. He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.”
